Remember Katrina? Sure you do. Lots of wind. Lots of rain. A chorus or two of Led Zeppelin’s When The Levee Breaks. Beat hell out of Louisiana and Mississippi. Beat hell out their libraries, too. Wet books are so difficult to read. Try dog-earing the page of a wet book. If you can even find a single page, much less turn it enough to dog-ear it. And the smell!

Well, there is an organization out there trying to do something about it and you can help. The organization is the Dewey Donation System. Their 2006 book drive is concentrating on restocking the Harrison County Library System in Mississippi. Each of the libraries (Biloxi, West Biloxi, Margaret Sherry, D’Iberville, Gulfport, Orange Grove, Saucier and Pass Christian) has a wish list of books which, conveniently enough, is listed on Amazon.
