FRINGE FANTASTIC
(Smashing Press, December 2005)
FRINGE FANTASTIC is the story of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as told through poetic verse.
Inside the shiny covers of this chapbook, you will find observations, sideways glances, thoughts, feelings and images from the Festival from the poet’s point of view.
The pages in this book form a collection of metaphor-laden, imagery-heavy, sarcastic, humorous and irreverent poems. The stanzas provide a gateway and I invite you to peek through the railings into the mind of a Scotsman, who looks on as the Fringe Festival runs its course.
This book will help relive the magic of the Fringe festival. Prepare to be lightly dipped in the subtle nuances of Edinburgh through the art of poetry and photographic images by one of Scotland’s fastest up-and-coming authors, Colin Galbraith.
POOLSIDE POETRY
(Smashing Press, March 2007)
POOLSIDE POETRY was written during a two week family holiday in July and August 2006. In Cyprus. Obviously.
It contains a wide variety of poems, such as the ones about Helios, the God-like pool attendant, with striking Greek looks and very small…brain. There’s verse about the suffocating heat and shenanigans around the pool. There’s the visit to the Flea Market, and just across the sea the war that was raging between Israel and Lebenon is also refelcted upon.
Poolside Poetry attempts to to peel away the different layers of Cyprus’s personality and bring it to life. It is a beautiful country with a lot going on, but above all else, the book describes the daily torment and struggle of what it is to be Scottish, pale, and living under a 100 degree sun.
