DEFENDING VIOLET
(Five Star Mystery, Nov. 15, 2006)
Defending Violet is the story of Ginger Rae Reddy, a street-smart lawyer in gritty Port Grace, who thought she’d left criminal law behind. She is drawn back in one cold rainy night when she agrees to help nineteen-year-old Violet, who is accused of mistreating her baby, Teddy.
Ginger suspects that Teddy’s father, a prison guard with a history of violence, is the culprit. Her investigation escalates into a case of murder, and she must pit her skills against that of her old mentor, the best defense lawyer in the city.
Tangled in ethical and moral dilemmas, Ginger struggles with the limitations of the legal system and puts everything she cares about at risk in her quest to save Violet.
